DO YOU BELONG TO THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE EJECTED?

Are you just an ordinary committed Christian in the UCC who has been . . .

. . . .denied pastoral standing?
. . . .denied “in care” status?
. . . .denied ordination?
. . . .removed from lay leadership?
. . . .asked to leave your church?
. . . .asked if another denomination would be a better fit?

In playful response to the "whimsical" new UCC advertisement we are inviting the thousands of you who we know can identify yourselves as the "FELLOWSHIP OF THE EJECTED" to weigh in. Our first response to seeing the new UCC AD, (http://www.ucc.org) was "WOW! Is that ever true to real life in the UCC, especially for those of us who are evangelical or historic mainstream Christians!!! That is exactly what has happened to so many of us in the UCC when we upheld our Biblical convictions!!  So . . if you feel you have been "ejected" from the church you grew up in or have had any of the following experiences, please add your response, even if it is just an anonymous, "me too"!

To join the Fellowship of the Ejected (FOE), share your story of ejection from a UCC church by sending an email to FOE@biblicalwitness.org that briefly (25-50 words) describes how you’ve been ejected.

Hey! I saw the commercial. Where do I get pews like that?

REJECTIONHURTS, SELECTIVE LISTENING MEMO EXPOSED

4/5/06 -- In an inside briefing to registered members of the Stillspeaking Initiative, the following memo makes clear the stories of those who have been victimized by the rejection of the UCC are to be censored. The only stories worth listening to apparently are from those who have been rejected by somebody else?? The ever evil religious right perhaps? We wonder, is God only allowed to speak when what He has to say is acceptable?

From the UCC Still Speaking Initiative:

Memo to "Stillspeaking" participants registered with the UCC website:

NEW:

Introducing you to rejectionhurts.com

The purpose of rejectionhurts.com is to help people overcome their alienation from God. It's a site directed at people outside our churches and a place where we - all of us - can hear first hand from people whose experiences of church have turned them away from God. (It's also a good place to efficiently download or email the TV commercial!)

All writers will receive an auto reply:
Thank you for sharing your story. All stories will be read, and a sample posted on rejectionhurts.com No reply besides this one will be made, but if you are looking for guidance, please go to www.stillspeaking.com/contact/ <Ask a Question>

In this way, rejectionhurts.com is related to your ministry as you may get follow up mail from some writers. Your pastoral response is all that's needed.

We expect there to be "rejection" stories from UCC people who want turn the site to their own purposes. These stories will not be posted. People writing about internal UCC experiences may challenge us for not posting their story in notes to you. Please feel free to frame your own reply or use something like this

Rejectionhurts.com is a witness to the world, not a showcase for internal theological or political debates and disagreements. The clear focus of the Stillspeaking Initiative is to help people overcome their alienation from God. It is to them that rejectionhurts.com is directed.

Don't believe one moment that the UCC is "open and affirming." They are "selectively opening and affirming." I have found if you ask the hard question such as "How can bisexuality be considered a Christian lifestyle because it automatically engages one in adultery?" I have constantly been ignored by conference and denominational officials. I'm glad to be out of the UCC.    - Katherine

I was the pastor of a rural UCC congregation for 3 years. Everything was wonderful until I preached a Mother's Day sermon in support of traditional marriage. Although the message was well received by the congregation a few influential members of the church board resented my stand and labeled me "unchrist-like." My daughter was removed from teaching Sunday School, my wife's business was shunned, and they "inadvertently" forgot to pay into my pension fund. In essence I was forced to resign (after which I received a check for back pension monies). My family and I were abandoned and shunned by conference leadership.  And they call the UCC inclusive???    -  Pastor Mark
